This historic home in Downtown Naperville is situated on a double lot with over 27′ of grade change from front to back. Upon our removal of existing overgrown debris, we were pleased to find very aged existing retaining walls on site. Our design intent was to match the existing walls as closely as possible to further expand on the terraced design. We expanded and leveled out the upper and mezzanine level patios and changed the paver material to natural travertine. A large travertine patio can be found on the lowest level adjacent to the decomposed granite petanque court. The highest level houses a large turf panel and decomposed granite walkways flanked by mortared cobblestone. An arched Ipe staircase was added from the main level sunroom to the main patio to promote the relationship from home to outdoors.
